Weekly Update

Good afternoon, Rocket families!

This is Erika Bower, Superintendent of Ridgedale Local Schools, where our mission is to empower students to reach their full potential while focusing on learning, safety, partnerships with our community, and fiscal responsibility.

Another week has flown by in November, but our gratitude to so many has not! I thought I would share some more ideas for showing gratitude throughout this week! You could do something nice for a co-worker or friend, list three things that you like about your school or job, write a thank you note to a school staff member, recognize three things that you usually take for granted, and go outside to appreciate the beauty of nature! We are especially grateful for our veterans who have served our country. Our 3rd and 4th graders put on a wonderful performance to recognize our veterans.

Speaking of gratitude, we are thankful for the donation of school supplies from Union Tank! We are also thankful for Grand Prairie Township who used grant money to purchase not only our amazing, new playground, but also used this money to add some fencing around the playground and purchase new basketball hoops! We cannot wait to get those new hoops up in the spring!

Is your 8th through 11th grade child interested in traveling to our nation's capital? If so, please consider registering them for the 2024 Washington D.C. trip! The trip takes place November 7th through November 10th of 2024. Please contact Jessica Friermood at jfriermood@ridgedaleschools.org for more details.

This week, we have many events! On Monday, the jr. high boys’ basketball will scrimmage at Wynford beginning at 5pm. Our sophomores will be visiting Tri Rivers Career Center on Tuesday morning. Our elementary will host a library night on Wednesday at 5:30pm at the Marion Public Library. The college credit plus meeting for those interested in taking college classes is on Thursday at 5pm. This is mandatory for any student in grades 7th-11th who is interested in taking college classes next year. It is required even if you have already taken college classes in the past. We will also hold our next Triple P Parent event on Thursday, and our November Board of Education meeting will take place Thursday at 6:30pm. The elementary fundraiser ends on Friday. The high school boys’ basketball team will scrimmage at home on Friday night at 6pm. The bowling team will host the Rocket Baker Bash on Saturday starting at 9am at Cooper’s Bowl. The high school girls’ basketball will scrimmage at home at 10am on Saturday.

Don’t forget that there is no school Wednesday, November 22 through Friday, November 24, due to Thanksgiving break.

Remember you can check out all of our events on our Google Calendar by going to our website, clicking on “Menu,” and then clicking on “School Calendar.” Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or the LiveFeed on our website to see all of the fantastic work being showcased in our schools!

By the way, are you looking for a part-time job that provides flexibility and allows you to make a difference in our community? If so, consider becoming a substitute in our schools! You can join our team as a substitute aide, teacher, cafeteria worker, custodian, secretary, and/or bus driver. Please fill out an application on our website. If you have specific questions, please contact Dr. Erika Bower at ebower@ridgedaleschools.org

Thank you for all you do for our students, our staff, and our community! Make it a great week, and Go, Rockets!
