Weekly Update

Good afternoon, Rocket families!

This is Erika Bower, Superintendent of Ridgedale Local Schools, where our mission is to empower students to reach their full potential while focusing on learning, safety, partnerships with our community, and fiscal responsibility.

Somehow we are in December already! As the weather begins to change, I want to take a moment to remind you that delays and cancellations are posted on our website, social media, and local news sources. In addition, one calls will be made, so if you are receiving this one call, you should receive the calls. With the weather change, I want to also remind you of the importance of slowing down and being patient and extra attentive during drop off and pick up times. We are noticing that families are starting to leave more space between cars and not pulling all of the way up which is causing a little more congestion on Hillman Ford Rd. Please be sure to pull up closely to the vehicle in front of you. Don’t forget that the school zone speed limit is 20mph, too!

We have so many activities and reminders for this week! On Monday, bowling competes at Gilead Christian, jr. high boys’ basketball plays Elgin at home, and jr. high girls’ basketball plays at Elgin. Fall retakes for Ohio State Testing in Algebra I and ELA II take place on Tuesday. The high school girls’ basketball team plays at Calvary Christian on Tuesday. On Wednesday, jr/sr high students of the month will attend a Toledo Walleyes game. If you have a senior, remind them that senior composite pictures are on Thursday morning. 7th graders are taking a field trip to COSI on Friday. Friday evening is full of fun! Bowling will compete at Crestline. We are also hosting our family appreciation night during the high school girls’ and boys’ basketball games against Elgin. Families who attend together and sign in will receive a ticket for a Ridgedale magnet. We will be throwing some Ridgedale t-shirts into the crowd, and families can visit our photo booth. Please wear BLUE to show your Ridgedale pride as we take on the Comets! On Saturday, the jr. high basketball plays at Arcadia while the jr. high girls’ play at home against Arcadia. There is Holiday Shoppe at the elementary from 8:30am-11:30am as well, and the high school boys’ basketball play Vanlue at home.

Please check out the Google Calendar on our website for all events! You can also follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and the LiveFeed to see all of the amazing work being done in our schools!

Don’t forget, if you are looking for a part-time job that provides flexibility and allows you to make a difference in our community, consider becoming a substitute in our schools! You can join our team as a substitute aide, teacher, cafeteria worker, custodian, secretary, and/or bus driver. Please fill out an application on our website. If you have specific questions, email me.

Thank you for all you do for our students, our staff, and our community! Make it a great week, and Go, Rockets!
