This is Erika Bower, Superintendent of Ridgedale Local Schools. With our weekly communication, we continue to remind you of special events going on throughout the current week and upcoming weeks, but we will also take time to highlight specific ways that we are living our mission of empowering students to reach their full potential through our cornerstones of learning, safety, community partnerships, and fiscal responsibility.
This week, I would like to share how we are empowering our students by providing them with more Career Technical Education pathways than ever before, and they are all right here on OUR campus! We are able to provide students with hands-on learning that is tied directly to the careers our students have shown interest in. Did you know that we launched a healthcare pathway this year? Our school nurse is teaching a class called Patient Centered Care. In this course, students will learn about business operations, the human body system, therapeutic interventions, assistive care, bioscience research and development, and health information management. Offering this CTE course here at Ridgedale opens up opportunities for our students to start learning about the healthcare field in as early as 9th grade! What a way to empower them to learn and plan for their futures! We are grateful to OhioHealth for partnering with us to provide some equipment needed to help make this pathway possible.
📢Our transition to ParentSquare continues to go well! According to our dashboard, 100% of our families are contactable! Keep in mind that if you change addresses and/or phone numbers, you need to make those changes in FinalForms right away, so we have accurate records and can contact families as needed.
✅We have many events this week that will allow you to stay connected to the school. Not only can you find events on the district Google calendar on our website, you can also find them on the calendar in your ParentSquare app.
📌Mark your calendar for Friday, September 19. There is no school for students on that day as our staff has professional development time.
⛳ 🏐On Monday, high school golf is at home, and jr. high volleyball is at home against Ridgemont.
⛳🏐🏫On Tuesday, jr. high golf is at Fredericktown, high school volleyball is at home against Ridgemont, and there is an elementary PTO meeting.
⛳On Wednesday, high school golf is at home for the RHS Golf Invite.
🏐On Thursday, high school volleyball is at home against Temple Christian.
🏈On Friday, high school football is at Huron.
🏃♀️🏐On Saturday, jr. high and high school cross country teams compete at the Galion Cross Country Festival, high school volleyball has a tri match at home, and jr. high volleyball is at home against USV.
