Rocket Radar 10-19-25

Good Afternoon, Rocket Families!🚀

This is Erika Bower, Superintendent of Ridgedale Local Schools. This week, we continue our focus on our Portrait of a Rocket by highlighting the competency of Integrity.

At Ridgedale, integrity is defined as doing the right thing even when no one is watching. It reflects our commitment to honesty, responsibility, and respect in every aspect of our school community. Integrity guides our actions, strengthens our relationships, and ensures that we uphold the values that define who we are as Rockets.

By practicing integrity each day, we bring our district’s mission of empowering ourselves and others to reach our full potential in learning, leadership, and service to life.

📱Did you know the following about cell phones? Research shows that students' use of cell phones in schools negatively affects student performance and mental health. Cell phones distract students from classroom instruction, resulting in smaller learning gains and lower test scores. Increased cell phone use has led to higher levels of depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders in children. This is why we continue our cell phone policy, which states that students should not be on their cell phones during the instructional day. We want our students to talk and interact with each other in person. This is a critical employability skill as well. Thank you for supporting us with this endeavor!

📅Tomorrow kicks off the second quarter! Encourage your child to start strong! Remember that you can check your child’s grades anytime using PowerSchool.

✅Looking for what is going on in the district? Please check out all events on the district Google calendar on our website or on the calendar on your ParentSquare app.

Fall sports are winding down, but we still have some key events this week.

🏀Tomorrow, Monday, is the last day for youth basketball sign ups. These take place in the elementary from 5-6:30pm for girls’ grades 4-6 and boys’ grades 3-6.

📚The elementary is hosting the book fair through Friday of this week.

🍎On Tuesday, 3rd grade students take the first part of their fall Ohio State Testing in Reading. Be sure your 3rd grader gets a good night’s sleep, and encourage them to do their best!

🍎On Wednesday, 3rd grade students take the second part of their fall OST in Reading. As always, a good night’s sleep will make for a better day! Conferences will also take place in the evening from 4-6pm. Please contact your child’s building if you have not set up conferences yet.

🏈On Friday, high school football plays at Lima Perry.

🎃Mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 29! Boo at the Dale is back from 5-6:30pm! This promises to be another great evening. Then, stick around for the fall band and choir concert. This is the rescheduled date and will start at 7pm.
