Welcome Back, Rocket Families!
Each August reminds us that schools are more than buildings…they are places where relationships are built, curiosity is encouraged, and young people discover who they are becoming. It is a privilege to welcome our students, families, employees, and community members to another year at Ridgedale Local Schools.
Across the district, our work is centered on our four cornerstones: Learning, Safety, Community Partnerships, and Fiscal Responsibility. These principles guide every decision, from the classroom to campus improvements, ensuring that students have the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive and empowering them to reach their full potential.
Creating Spaces Where Students Can Flourish
Summer provided an opportunity to complete several projects that strengthen both the safety and functionality of our schools. Additional playground fencing and secured gate access were installed through Preschool Safety Grant funding, security cameras were expanded on the playground, the football field underwent significant renovations thanks to generous community donors, building maintenance projects continued throughout campus, and planning is underway for future capital improvements following a new Ohio Facilities Construction Commission assessment.
While many of these improvements happen behind the scenes, each one contributes to a school environment where students and staff can focus on teaching, learning, and building relationships.
Investing in People
The greatest strength of Ridgedale has always been its people. This year we will continue our districtwide partnership with Scott Ervin, "The Kid Whisperer," as we implement Behavioral Leadership across PK-12. This initiative is designed to strengthen school culture by helping students develop self-leadership, responsibility, perseverance, empathy, and effective communication.
Behavioral Leadership complements our Portrait of a Rocket by intentionally developing the personal qualities that help students succeed not only during their school years, but throughout their lives. This work strengthens relationships, supports positive behavior, and creates consistent expectations throughout the district.
Learning Without Limits
Outstanding schools never stop improving, and neither do the educators who serve them. Professional learning remains a priority as teachers collaborate, study best instructional practices, and participate in coaching supported through partnership with the North Central Ohio Educational Service Center. These opportunities strengthen classroom instruction while fostering collaboration among educators across grade levels.
Students across PK-12 benefit from experiences that encourage creativity, problem solving, leadership, service, and real-world application. Whether through elementary classrooms, music and arts programs, Career Technical Education, extracurricular activities, or athletics, every student has opportunities to discover strengths and develop new interests.
Responsible Stewardship
Being good stewards of public resources means looking for innovative ways to expand opportunities while carefully managing district finances. Grant funding has allowed Ridgedale to enhance student programming, strengthen school safety, provide before- and after-school learning opportunities, expand driver's education, and complete facility improvements that maximize the impact of local taxpayer dollars. These investments reflect thoughtful planning today while keeping tomorrow's needs in mind.
A Community That Makes a Difference
Rocket Pride extends well beyond our classrooms. Throughout the past year, students earned recognition in athletics, fine arts, leadership organizations, Career Technical Education, and community service. State championships, conference titles, musical performances, student showcases, and service projects each tell part of the Ridgedale story, but the greatest accomplishment is the character our students display every day through kindness, perseverance, and a willingness to serve others.
Those successes are possible because of the strong partnerships that define our district. Families, volunteers, local businesses, community organizations, alumni, and supporters all play an important role in creating opportunities that enrich the educational experience for every student.
Looking Forward
The beginning of a school year is filled with possibilities. New friendships will be formed, new skills will be learned, challenges will be overcome, and memories will be created. Thank you for the confidence you place in Ridgedale Local Schools. We look forward to partnering with you throughout another year of learning, growth, and celebration.
Together, we will continue building a school community where every Rocket is encouraged to learn, lead, and make a positive difference.
Go Rockets!
